So a bit about me. You would have, in the past, found me sat in front of a computer screen, editing shows and promos for TV. I still edit and enjoy doing so, but once I had taken up cake styling, I knew that I wanted to quit my full-time job and go freelance. This in turn, well in my head at least, meant that I no longer had to do a day’s work in the edit suite then come home and bake – No, I wanted to bake in the day time, yes in actual sunlight, and when I was needed or better still when I wanted to, I’d take up an editing gig.
Married with two girls, Rayanne and Renee, I’m based in central London. I have always been a keen baker. I started young, and my cakes where always disasters – mainly due to me being impatient and always opening the oven door. with that being said, my first tip to you is to leave that oven door alone until that timer beeps! I kept on with my baking, and would be that girl who’d bring the cake in for Macmillan coffee morning or any event that would require cake. The joy of watching others indulge in my cakes and the feedback I’d get was always an amazing feeling 😊 When my youngest daughter turned six I decided to delve into the world of decorating a tiered cake. It was Frozen themed of course and this was the cake that truly kicked off my passion and got me orders!
Then a close friend of mine asked me to do their wedding cake, I was totally shocked, I never even thought about making a wedding cake, but the idea of it excited me beyond words and I was just so happy to be asked to be part of their special day. We started with cake flavours and then the design idea was given to me. The bride to be wanted gumpaste/sugar flowers, oh my, how exciting! It meant I had a chance, or an excuse, to book a sugar flower class which I took at Rockbake house.
The whole process was so enjoyable, setting up at the wedding was truly an unforgettable moment for me and the moment that I knew that I wanted to take this journey forward to the next level. So that’s what I did, and here I am now, buzzing about the future of designing wedding cakes for future brides.

I think this process is so thrilling for me because I never got the opportunity to design my own wedding cake. My husband’s godmother kindly offered to supply the cake for our special day, and she wanted it to be a surprise. So, I had no say, nudda! No, that’s a lie, I could share my colour scheme! It was a nerve wracking time, but I needn’t have worried because it tasted great and fitted in with my scheme - and frankly, at that time I knew nothing about cake design anyway. But I do now, and I don’t want that for future brides. With so many creative possibilities, every bride deserves to have a great tasting cake AND a cake that they will look back at in their photos, with nothing but love because the possibilities are endless. Below is an image of my cake.
